One Great Year melds together present day science, particularly quantum physics, with ancient wisdom, and showing the many places the two meet and overlap. The best part is that this is so well done it just sits in the background, where it sparks thoughts in the back of your mind. By the time you finish this novel you are gently led to see the world in a whole new way and that new worldview brings up questions, like how much of this is real, and what does it really mean to me.”
Carolyn Cooke, Reporter for Surrey Now newspaper. Five Stars

“An epic love story but so much more. It swept me through time and space.”
Patricia Corbett Bowman, Author of Tim, Cookie, and a Matter of

“The idea behind One Great Year is excellent. I’m reminded of the spirituality that grounded Cloud Atlas or Avatar or the reveal of the function of the crystal skulls in the last Indiana Jones. There is so much history of the world to mine from, you’ve created a winning formula…”

Story Synopsis

When the world collapses from a Golden Age into one of chaos and strife, mankind’s salvation lies in the hands of eternal Emissaries — guardians chosen to protect the secrets of a sacred, ancient civilization and to guide humanity back to enlightenment even as its darkest hour approaches…

A timeless tale of love reborn through the ages.

Marcus and Theron are two lovers bound by an eternal and unshakable bond. As a series of catastrophic events nearly destroys their world, the two along with a chosen few become Emissaries destined, over the course of 13,000 years and through many reincarnations, to lead humanity into an era of peace and prosperity as foretold by the Elders of their race. But the forces of evil have taken possession of one man, Helghul, who relentlessly pursues Marcus and Theron through time, determined to destroy them and ruin all hope for salvation.

One Great Year tracks their epic adventure across centuries of human civilization as Marcus, Theron and Helghul cross paths in Bolivia, ancient Greece, Mongolia, Shambala and Egypt. Born time and again to each other, sometimes as famous historical figures Genghis Khan, Plato, Aristotle and Nazi war criminal Kammler. As their lives race towards present day, envoys of darkness gather around them threatening to bury the life-giving secrets of Atitala forever in a stunning, action-packed climax where good and evil come to blows and the future of mankind hangs in the balance.

“For every soul there is a theme, a path that must be followed, lessons that must be learned…”

Veitch and Defazio’s award-winning debut novel deftly blends elements of a fantasy-adventure with historical fiction to create an unforgettable, fateful tale of eternal love, undying devotion, betrayal, suffering and the hope that binds us all.
